A Role Model for Women
"Rosie the Riveter," star of a government campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for the munitions industry, illustrated by the U.S. government's "Rosie the Riveter" propaganda campaign. Based in small part on a real-life munitions worker but was a fictitious character. The strong, bandanna-clad Rosie became one of the most successful recruitment tools in American history, and the most iconic image of working women in the World War II era.
Rosie the Riveter was a cutural icon of the United States. She represented the American women who worked in factories during WWII. These women took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the military. Rosie the Riveter was used as a symbol of feminism and women's economic power.
